David Yewdall
BDO LLP (London, UK)
David Yewdall is a Tax Partner at BDO LLP, based in London, United Kingdom. He works within BDO’s Global Employer Services team, advising clients on expatriate tax, employment tax and reward issues in relation to their workforce.
David works with a broad range of organisations, from multinationals to owner-managed businesses. He has a particular interest in the technology, media and telecoms (TMT) sector and forms part of BDO’s TMT focused Tax Leadership team, bringing a range of sector specific expertise to clients which operate within this area.
Whilst his experience is varied across Global Employer Services, David has a deep specialism within expatriate tax, helping organisations and their employees understand the impact of international cross border working, whether this be in relation to business travel or remote working arrangements. His advice covers income tax, social security, payroll, permanent establishment, as well as the broader employer and employee obligations which arise with engaging a globally mobile workforce. With the support of BDO Global, David supports clients with coordinating and delivering non-UK advice, combining this together with his team’s UK advice so that the global tax position is understood and aligned by his clients.
Since the pandemic, several organisations have increased their flexibility in regard to international working, and David has supported these clients in developing international flexible working policies which allows them to provide a degree of flexibility in working abroad, whilst reducing the commercial complexities and risks involved for both the employee and employer. In addition to this, David advises on international contractor compliance, and with his global team supports the review of the international employment tax status of workers.
Externally, David supports a number of bodies and organisations in providing education and subject matter to their audience, including to the Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals (CIPP), where he regularly contributes content to publications covering the treatment of specific earnings and alternative forms of remuneration.
David is a Chartered Tax Advisor and an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation.
